"If Ye Love Me"
In less than one week, I'll be in Pittsburgh, PA, for the Church Music Association of America's Colloquium XX. It promises to be a week of musical heaven.
I received a partial list of music that I will be singing in the choirs I have signed up for. Included in this list is a lovely polyphonic piece by Thomas Tallis entitled, "If Ye Love Me."
"If ye love me, keep my commandments, and I will pray to the Father, and he shall give you another comforter, that he may bide with you for ever, ev'n the spirit of truth."
Lyric: John 14, 15-17
Music: Thomas Tallis
I cannot tell you how much I look forward to singing this piece next week. In the meantime, the laundry must be done and the bags must be packed.
Until next time,
Adam W.
Be sure to check the blog pages next week, as I post live from the Sacred Music Colloquium. You can also follow me on twitter @adquemibimus (to who shall we go) for more frequent updates.
Music pick of the week: Morten Lauridsen's "O Magnum Mysterium."
