Join us for a special S&T South Social Event: Ice Skating at Steinberg Skating Rink in Forest Park. We will meet at Steinberg's at 6:00 pm and spend a few hours on and off the ice enjoying each other's company. Friends and Family are always welcome.

If you'd like to carpool, we'll meet at St. Bernadette after the 4:00 pm Mass.

S&T South Fall Social

This week at Spirit & Truth we pause to thank the Lord for the gift of fellowship. Instead of our usual format, we will have a chili supper available to all and some time for fellowship. We will also have the church open for prayer and will continue our October devotion of saying the Rosary together. Please bring a dessert or snack to share. S&T will provide chili, corn bread, and lemonade. We won't have formal adoration this week, but confessions may be available.

Next week, we will welcome Fr. Henry Purcell who will lead us in a discussion on Sacrosanctum Concilium (The Constitution on the Sacred Liturgy). This will be one of many S&T night's to look at the documents of Vatican II during the Year of Faith.

Spirit & Truth South TRIVIA NIGHT!

St. Bernadette Young Adult Ministry invites you to our inaugural trivia night benefitting our Spirit & Truth Young Adult Ministry. Admission is $25.00 per person (tables seat 10) and includes 10 rounds of trivia, popcorn, soft drinks, an open bar and Nine different beers on tap. In addition to the trivia, we will have such favorites as Mulligans, Heads or Tails, 50/50, etc... Guests are welcome and encouraged to bring their own snacks.

We are asking everyone to bring a dish to the Thanksgiving Potluck. If everyone brings a small dish to share, there will be plenty of food. Please use the comment field to let us know what you are planning to bring. The types of dishes needed are:

Turkey (This could be carved turkey, deli turkey,  Turkey Cacciatore, etc...)

Potatos (mashed, sweet or otherwise)

Vegetables/Casseroles 

Salad

Dishware (plates, cutlery, cups, napkins)

Beverages (Iced Tea, Lemonade) 

Archbishop Raymond Leo Burke To Be Cardinal

Archbishop BurkeOn Wednesday, October 20, the Holy Father announced that 24 prelates will be created cardinals at a consistory to be held on November 20 (eve of the Solemnity of Christ the King). Among these prelates is Archbishop Raymond Leo Burke, prefect of the supreme tribunal of the apostolic signatura and Archbishop Emeritus of Saint Louis.

This Thursday, we welcome Msgr. Ed Rice to Spirit & Truth (St. Elizabeth of Hungary). Msgr. Rice is the vocation director for the Archdiocese of St. Louis. We are excited to have him join us. Even if you have discerned your vocation, this will be a wonderful opportunity for reflection and prayer.

Spiritual Reflection on the Most Holy Rosary - Rev. Mr. Anthony Gerber

Each year, the month of October is dedicated to the Most Holy Rosary. On October 7, we celebrated the Memorial of Our Lady of the Rosary. In keeping with this custom, Rev. Mr. Anthony Gerber will lead us in a spiritual reflection on the rosary. We will also pray the rosary in community during our holy hour.

Deacon Gerber is a transitional deacon from the Archdiocese of St. Louis. God willing, he will be ordained to the holy priesthood in May of 2011.

We're off to a great start this year: the BBQ two weeks ago was a huge success as anyone who attended can testify; and the social last week also was well attended, complemented with Jess's amazing homemade cookies, and Daniela's delicious, authentic Mexican salsa!

This week Father Tim Noelker is coming to give us a talk on "Living With a Proper Perspective; Living With Heaven in Mind," followed by adoration and benediction. We will conclude the evening with some snacks and social time as usual.
