This Week @ S&T South: May Crowning

This week at Spirit & Truth South, we continue to honor the Blessed Virgin Mary as we celebrate the traditional devotional practice sometimes called a May Crowning. Prior to the May Crowning, there will be a brief catechesis on the rite itself, then we will have the crowning followed by a time for quiet prayer and reflection.

Next week, Fr. Anthony Gerber will join us to speak about Our Lady of Guadalupe.

WHAT: Devotion, Faith & fellowship!
WHEN:  Thursday... @ 7:00 p.m.

This Week: Mary, Mother of Jesus

"What the Catholic faith believes about Mary is based on what it believes about Christ, and what it teaches about Mary illumines in turn its faith in Christ." -CCC 487

The practice of the  Church designating May as a special time of the year to honor Mary is a relatively newer practice in the life of the Church (began near the end of 18th Century), yet today it seems to go without saying that May is Mary's month. This week at Spirit & Truth we will talk about Mary. What is her role in the faith, what are some of the devotions we use to pray to God through Mary. At the conclusion of the talk, we will spend some time in prayer utilizing one of the many Marian devotions given to us through the Church.

This Thursday: Spirit & Truth's 3rd Anniversary

This Thursday, Spirit & Truth celebrates the third anniversary of its first meeting on April 30, 2009. What began three years ago at Annunciation Parish continues today at the Church of Saint Bernadette. The evening will begin with Holy Mass celebrated by Fr. Anthony Yates. We will then enjoy refreshments in Feckter Hall.

On a special note, this will be Fr. Yates' last act as our Spiritual Director. We wish to thank him for over two years of service to Spirit & Truth- South. We do hope you'll join us as we bid him a fond farewell.
